The Radiant Base Menu

I am definitely a dewy finish kinda gal when it comes to foundations, and as much as I'd love to be able to pull of the whole 'matte-porcelain' esque finish when it comes to my face, my skin is far too dry to accept anything slightly on the matte side.

These foundations are more on the light-medium side of things when it comes to coverage which I know isn’t to everyones preferences when it comes to foundations but I personally love wearing something that is lightweight yet adds a beautiful healthy glow to the skin.

and so, in no particular order here are my favourite dewy foundations..

Wake Me Up, Rimmel (100, Ivory)
This will always hold a firm place in my makeup stash as it was actually the first foundation I ever brought myself way back in secondary school. The Rimmel foundations in general are amongst some of my drugstore favourites as they offer amazing quality for a fraction of the price of high end comparisons. The only downside of these and one that you may be able to see from the swatches is that it is slightly orange toned, this isn’t as obvious on the skin when blended well but it’s something that I have noticed in the past when switching between these foundations. This particular foundation does need to be blended well as it can appear glittery in some lights (no need to be afraid) but overall it gives a lovely, radiant appearance to the skin and is below the £10 mark. -SPF 15

Fresh Nude, The Body Shop (020, Bali Vanilla)
This is my choice of foundation for work and one that has crept into my everyday makeup routine for outside of work multiple times. This is a lightweight foundation with medium coverage and so perfect as we transition into the warmer months and potential makeup melting situations when higher coverage foundations are used. This contains rose water and so is hydrating for us dry skinned girls without being too oily, I love the fresh and glowing appearance of this foundation when applied to the skin. The shade range for these Fresh Nude foundations are amazing and so it’s worth popping into a store to see if you like how they look on your skin.

City Radiance, Bourjois (02, Vanilla)
The newest edition to my base collection and one that was influenced by the lovely Emily Rose, this is perfect for days when you cannot be bothered to apply makeup yet don’t want to resemble a complete ghost (in my case anyway) this gives a very light yet buildable coverage and a lovely subtle glow.
SPF 30

Le Teint Touche Eclat, YSL (BR20)
This was the first ‘high end’ foundation I ever brought and one that I absolutely adore to wear. This is a slightly bit more on the medium/high coverage level when it comes to base products and as with the previous foundations mentioned, gives a  beautiful radiance to the skin. The only thing I’d say is a slight pain with the touche ├ęclat foundations is the shades- I completely guessed when buying mine and luckily it was a match but I’d recommend going to a counter to get an actual match before investing in a foundation like this. Despite loving it, it is very similar to the previous foundations mentioned and so if high end is out of your budget then the Rimmel Wake Me Up or Fresh Nude Foundation from The Body Shop compare in multiple ways.

Neutral Nails For Spring

As much as I adore all things pastel and bright throughout  Spring, there is something so minimalistic & chic about neutral nails- here is the polish I’ve been loving lately.

Sometimes, less really is more when it comes to your nails.. Since wearing this beautiful neutral shade I’ve had tons of comments about my nail polish and this particular one has complimented every single outfit I’ve worn lately.
This is the shade ‘Do You Take Lei Away?’ from OPI and is a beautiful warm toned beige, perfect for us paler girls that would look ghostly pale when wearing a lighter polish. *the struggles*
OPI polishes have a good lasting power and I’ve only had to repaint a couple of nails this past week to maintain a lovely looking manicure, alternatively if OPI isn’t your ‘go-to’ brand then Barry M ‘Lychee’ is also a gorgeous neutral nail polish for this season.

what nail polishes have you been loving for Spring?

The Everyday Eyeshadow Palette

Isn’t this palette dreamy?

I am 100 percent a neutrals kinda gal when it comes to eyeshadows, I remember saving up to buy the oh so famous Naked palette as a teenager and loving using it- however, the 35T palette from Morphe has became my new love.

It took me ages to actually be able to order this palette as they were always sold out on Cult Beauty and I was worried about the postage on it but it arrived in perfect condition and within 2 days which is amazing.

The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is beyond amazing, I have MAC eyeshadows that don’t compare to some of the browns in this palette and at just over £20 for the entire palette (that contains 35 eyeshadows!) it’s a real beauty steal. The combination of both mattes and shimmers compliment each other perfectly and the amounts of looks that can be created with these shadows range from day to dramatic, smokey & special occasions- I haven’t got around to using all of the shadows yet!
If any of you have tried any of the other palettes from Morphe, I’d love to hear your favourites as I am eager to try out more.

what do you think of the 35T palette?
